CAPTURING THE GOOD STUFF
I don't believe you should spend your wedding day standing in front of a camera.
The best photos happen when you're laughing with your friends, hugging your family, or simply taking in everything that's happening around you. My job is to capture those moments without getting in the way.
I'll step in when a little direction helps—especially during your couple portraits—but for the rest of the day I keep things relaxed and unobtrusive. That way you can focus on enjoying your wedding while I document it as it naturally unfolds.

Who I am
I'm James, a Brisbane-based wedding photographer with a relaxed, documentary approach to capturing weddings across Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Northern New South Wales and beyond.
Photography has been part of my life since I was a teenager, but it wasn't until I was studying overseas that I discovered my passion for telling stories through genuine, unscripted moments. Today, I focus on creating photographs that feel natural and timeless, capturing your wedding exactly as it unfolds.
I know that most couples aren't used to being in front of a camera, which is why I keep things calm and easy-going. Rather than interrupting your day with constant posing, I'll quietly document the laughter, happy tears and all the little moments in between, stepping in with gentle guidance when it's time for portraits.
For me, wedding photography isn't about creating perfect moments—it's about preserving the real ones, so you can look back and remember not just how your day looked, but how it felt.
FAQs
What is your photography style?
1
I describe my style as natural, documentary, and relaxed. My goal is to capture your wedding as it really happened, rather than turning the day into one long photoshoot. I focus on genuine moments, real emotions, and all the little interactions you might not even notice on the day.
When it's time for portraits or family photos, I'll give you as much guidance as you need so you never feel awkward or unsure. I want your photos to feel like you, not like you're acting for the camera.
How many hours of photography should we book?
2
Every wedding is different, but here's a general guide:
4 hours – Ceremony, family photos, couple portraits, and the beginning of the reception.
6 hours – Everything above, plus more getting ready or more of the reception.
8 hours – The most popular option, covering preparations through to dancing.
10+ hours – Perfect if you want the complete story of your day from start to finish.
If you're unsure, I'm always happy to help build a timeline and recommend the amount of coverage that best suits your plans.
How far in advance should we book?
3
Many couples book between 12 and 18 months before their wedding, particularly for spring and autumn Saturdays.
If your wedding is coming up sooner, it's still worth getting in touch. Occasionally I have last-minute availability, especially for weekday weddings or smaller celebrations.
Why should we choose a documentary wedding photographer?
4
Your wedding day isn't a photoshoot—it's one of the biggest days of your life.
A documentary approach allows you to spend more time with your family and friends and less time standing in front of the camera. Years from now, it's often the real moments—the laughter, tears, hugs, and quiet interactions—that become the most meaningful photographs.
